VideoTrace – 3D modelling using real video
In keeping with my past posting of fucking awesome SIGGRAPH presentation videos, I now present to you: “VideoTrace” which allows a 3D modeler to take a video file, spend a little while tracing over the basics, and be presented not only with a 3D wireframe of what was traced, but the software will extrapolate the graphics out of the video to give you a 3D model of WHATEVER YOU JUST FUCKING TRACED.
I love technology.

I’m sure I saw this about 5 years ago.
I didn’t say it was new – just that it was awesome.

how do you figure you saw it five years ago? I just looked at the project history and the version you see is about 2 years old. The software was moved to a monetizer and as recently as a few months ago was issuing betas.
I call bullshit.
Was this video taken at the University of Adelaide? The road in the background seems to be Victoria Drive
sup Jesus

FAKE!
